Historically, most succession applications were heard by a
MāoriLandCourt judge.
Now, if your succession application is assessed to be ‘simple
and uncontested’, then it can be decided by a MāoriLandCourt registrar without a court sitting (unless you request to
be heard by a judge in a court sitting).
Now, landowners and other court users can choose to resolve
disputes related to Māoriland through a free tikanga-based
dispute resolution service provided by the MāoriLandCourt.
Once you've confirmed these details, you can find further information through the following sources: Pātaka Whenua
Pātaka Whenua is the online portal that holds the MāoriLandCourt electronic record, which includes minutes and orders.
