Mr Tootill seeks an adjournment of the hearing for at least one
week in order to familiarise himself with the history of the matter, to review the
documents filed and to seek full instructions from the executor.

Most applications filed in the Court are resolved in Court, or in Chambers, especially the
more straightforward ones. However, some cases may require a reserved judgment at
the conclusion of the hearing.
The period covered has been one of change for the Court, with the introduction of the new Pātaka Whenua system to support Court kaimahi, judges and landowners.
The appointment of Dr Ruakere Hond as a Pūkenga to assist the court, under s 32A of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, provided the level of care required in the matter and one the Court is extremely grateful for. The Court agreed to a request by the applicants to appear, correspond, and be heard on the matter in te reo Māori.
