The purpose of the National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the Mäori Land
Court.
A large amount of our record is accessible using our online portal, Pātaka Whenua. However, there are some records that are only available for viewing in hard copy at our offices, and some that are too fragile to be viewed at all.
A hearing may be an in-person hearing, may be conducted as a mixture of in-person and virtual
appearances, or may only be online.
No one other than members of the media may make a record in court/tribunal hearings,
whatever form that record is, such as notes on an electronic device, film or recording, unless
given permission by the presiding judge.
You can submit your application several ways:

• Visit Pātaka Whenua through the Māori Land Court website, www.māorilandcourt.govt.nz
• You can apply as:
• a registered user – where you can create, save, submit applications, pay fees, and track
progress
• a guest user – where you submit your applications without creating an account
• In person
• bring your documents to your nearest Māori Land Court office
