If an ownerof Māori freehold land with many owners has paid more than their share of water services charges, they can apply to the Māori Land Court for a ‘charging order’ under section 99 to recover the excess amount paid.
This will make it easier to build
on Māori reservation land.
OCCUPATION ORDER:
An occupation order provides the right to build on a piece ofland owned by multiple owners (but does not grant a title of
ownership over that piece ofland).

Māori Assembled Owners Regulations 1995
Sets out the rules on how a meeting ofownersof Māori land must be held, how it is recorded and how the outcomes are reported.
Māori trustees and committee of management members are responsible for caring for and managing whenua on behalf of landowners (beneficial owners and beneficiaries).
