In some instances this is because the land has only one or just a few owners, or because the land is unsuitable for any form of development and owners have decided to leave it in its natural state.
The purpose of updating the list of owners is to ensure successors can attend and vote at meetings of owners to decide on how to receive the land.
The register will record, for each member of the management committee: details of member’s interest in the Māori freehold land incorporated; the dealings in the interests by the member; and declarations made by members.
