HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE COURT 1862–1890s The Heretaunga case did not return to the Court until the end of the year (1866), a gap of nearly nine months. The December hearings relating to Heretaunga took place before a differently constituted Court, presided over by Judge Monro, who vested the blocks in ten grantees, including Karaitiana Takamoana and Henare Tomoana.
