This direction is issued pursuant to rule 3.8(1)(b) Māori Land Court Rules 2011 and a copy
is to be sent to the Kaiwhakawā Matua, the Kairēhita Matua, and the Kairēhita of the Aotea
District Registry of the court.
There are 50 original owners who mainly resided at Kaiapoi and Kaikoura.
In 2023, successors to the Hāwea-Wānaka block voted for interim representation, through a process facilitated by Te Arawhiti (Te Tari Whakatau) and Te Puni Kōkiri.
