Her Honour is of Ngāti Porou and Rongowhakaata descent and is the first wāhine Māori appointed to the role. In July 2023, Judge Fox was appointed Chief Judge of the Māori Land Court - Te Kaiwhakawā Matua o Te Kooti Whenua Māori.
