Pātaka Whenua is the online portal that holds the Māori Land Court electronic record, which includes minutes and orders.
If an agreement is reached through mediation, the mediator will record the terms of the agreement and provide this to the Māori Land Court. A judge may make a courtorder to formalise what has been agreed by the parties, which will become a part of the court record.
Because the work of the Māori Land Court is highly regulated by the governing legislation and
rules of the Court, private mediators will need to be mindful that many settlement
agreements will need formal orders of the Court.
