CAN A REGISTRAR’S DECISION BE REVIEWED?
Yes, you can apply for a review of a registrar’s decision within
20 working days of the decision being made (or longer if you
have a good reason).
Any other documents, plans, materials, or records that –
a) A Judge or Registrar considers necessary to preserve the Court’s historical record of title
and ownership; or
b) A Judge or Registrar considers necessary for the Court to function as a court of record;
or
c) Are required to be kept of maintained under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993; and

Simple and uncontested trust applications can be dealt with
by a Māori Land Court registrar, without a court hearing.
Benefits The time and costs associated with attending a court hearing
are removed when decided by a registrar.
