What do I need to do? Contact your trust about an occupation license or lease. Before applying to the Māori Land Court for an occupation order, you will need consent from the other owners of the land, and if applicable, from trustees or the management committee of the Māori incorporation over the land.
In the interim, the judiciary will continue to have the discretion to set applications down for special hearings to progress the many applications that are waiting for resolution.
This includes who are beneficiaries of the trust, the name and contact details of the trustees, and information about the appointment or removal of trustees. Trustees must also provide other information about the trust to a beneficiary if they request it.

Finances 4.5 The trustees will receive and apply monies due and ensure that accounts are properly kept so that there is at all times a good record of the finances of the marae. 4.6 The accounts need not be audited annually, but if serious questions are raised about the accounts, the trustees will ensure that an audit of the accounts is undertaken by a suitably qualified person. 4.7 In any event, the trustees will ensure that an audit is undertaken not less than every five years.
