The Māori Trustee is appointed, in many cases, to act as a responsibletrustee to manage Māori freehold land and other assets on behalf of the beneficial owners.
Personally, being able to serve by assisting Māori to achieve their aspirations for their whenua and presiding over claims by Māori under the Treaty of Waitangi is a great honour. It is a role and responsibility that I do not exercise lightly, and I hope to continue that service for some time to come.
The Chief Justice of Russia spoke about their Supreme Court’s role in drafting and promoting legislation – while still being independent of the legislator.

6.1 A chairperson who cannot attend a meeting may delegate the role to another trustee.
6.2 The trustees may co-opt people to assist them with any aspect of business, but a co-opted member may not
vote.
