Interest based trusts
Tarati whānau (utu tāpae $68)
Whānautrust (filing fee $68)
A whānautrust combines the interests of a whānau (family) into a single trust.
There have, of course, been numerous ahu whenua trust orders with composite whānautrust-administered areas created since Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 gave statutory recognition to shareholdings within blocks according to discrete whakapapa groups.
Support was given for the formation of a whānautrust. An application to constitute a whānautrust was filed in 2004 and eventually heard in February of 2005.
