Māori incorporation shares Māori incorporation shares are deemed, for all purposes, to be shares in Māori land held by the incorporation but the legislation dealing with their transfer is in section 264 of the Act. Share registers The Māori incorporation is required to establish a share register, an official record of the shareholders.

• Any revenue from the lease or licence must be used as directed by the MLC. Section 150A of the Act (as amended by section 24 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Amendment Act 2002) requires any lease for longer than 52 years to have the consent of at least half the beneficial owners of the land and the approval of the MLC.
