During this period a national service for only urgent injunction applications is available on
Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December 2025. All other applications will
not be processed until the court reopens on Monday, 5 January 2026.
The former Chief Judge, Judge Isaac, retired from his role on 30 April, and accordingly Deputy Chief Judge Fox and Deputy Chairperson Judge Reeves have taken up the roles of Acting Chief Judge and Acting Chairperson respectively.
The modern Māori Land Court exists in an environment that is significantly different to that in which was created on 30 October 1865 by the General Assembly of the New Zealand Colony under the Native Lands Act 1865.
He is also a Judge of the High Court of Niue and the High Court of the Cook Islands. On 30 April 2023, Judge Isaac celebrated his 70th birthday, completing his warrant as Chief Judge of the Court and Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal.
