You can apply if you are:
• the owner of the Māori land shares to
be transferred
• the person who will receive the Māori
land shares
• a trustee for either of the people
mentioned above.
The applicant, or counsel for the applicant,
must sign the application for the vesting order.
They were and are both teachers and as result Judge Williams’ has had the privilege of being brought up in areas such as Te Whetū, Kāwhia, Pātea and Rūātoki.
ADDRESSING GRIEVANCES
6.1 If any Trustee or Beneficiary is aggrieved by a decision, action or omission of the
Trustees ("Applicant"), that person may first give written notice of the grievance to the
Trustees.
6.2 If the Applicant's grievance is not satisfactorily addressed within a reasonable period of
time, the Applicant may in writing, notify the Trustees of his or her intention to have his
or her grievance referred to a general meeting of the Beneficiaries....
The Court
may, if it cannot otherwise address those concerns, order that the application be reheard.

The applications listed below were received up to the closing date of this Pänui and are either not yet ready to
proceed to Court hearing or do not require a formal sitting.
This produced some pleasing results
in both spaces with an increase in new applications to Court in the earlier part of the reporting
year and the closure of some of our older applications.
The way whenua was taken care of and how Māori lived on the land changed with the introduction of laws to allow for settler ownership. As a result of those laws, tangata whenua were granted individual ownership of specific parcels of land or ‘interests’ in that whenua.
