There are new requirements on trustees to keep and share certain
information.
Every trustee must keep a copy of the trust deed (trust order) and
any variations made to it.
The search results will show with five columns:
• Owner name
• Block name
• Type
• Shares/Ratio
• Minute book reference
Click the information you want to view under either the ‘owner name’ or ‘block name’ column.
When searching for ownership it will show:
• Owners details
• Block associated with that owner
• Share amounts
• Any Trusts if applicable
2.9 SEARCHING OWNERSHIP
TIP: When looking for an owner put a “%” (wildcard) in between the first and last name.
It is not surprising to me that the skills and capabilities of those in governance are the key to successful enterprise on Māori land. Increasing the skills and capabilities of those in governance, or improving their access to others who do have the requisite skills and capabilities, is the key challenge to improving the utilisation of Māori land.
The owners first need to have a meeting at which they:
• agree to set up the trust
• agree which blocks of land or shares should be included in
the trust
• agree to the terms of the draft trust order which sets out
the trustees’ powers, rights and obligations
• nominate trustees
• take accurate minutes.
