Alienation involves an alienee (the person who purchases or receives the
interest inthe land) and an alienor (the person who sells or parts with the interest
inthe land).

which the application is located inthe first instance.
A pūtea trust can:
hold any number of interests from any number of people
have a set group of beneficiaries, including the descendants of any person putting their interests inthetrust or for the benefit of the hapū, and
have trustees appointed to manage the interests on behalf of the beneficiaries.
Whenua Māori held by a Māori land trust
3. Where the title to the land is vested in a Māori land trust (e.g. an Ahu Whenua Trust or a
Whānau Trust) thetrustees can approve a mortgage against the land subject to any
restrictions inthetrust order (ss 147 and 150A of the Act)
Where land is vested intrustees, thetrustees are the
legal owners of the land and they hold it upon trust for the
beneficial owners and they manage that land in
accordance with thetrust order set by the Court.
