With shares held by individuals becoming increasingly fractionated but shares held in whānau trusts being relatively stable, I foresee a time when these whānau trusts will be major shareholders in trusts and incorporations.
In 2022, with the adjustment of the rules under the Protection Framework, the Court held a series of special sittings to celebrate the appoint- ment of these three new judges with their whānau, colleagues and friends. All events were auspicious occasions with people travelling from far and wide to attend the sittings.

Those entitled to succeed do not wish to form a whānau trust. Those entitled to succeed have conferred and wish to vest the interests of the deceased into a whānau trust.
