The Māori Land Court moved to a new database, Pātaka Whenua, in late May 2023 replacing the Māori Land Information System (MLIS).
There are 27,137 Māori freehold land titles and approximately 2.3 million ownership interests in those titles.
Trustees are appointed by the Māori Land Court under the jurisdiction set out in s 222 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.
