To support how the Māori Land Court functions, judges will be able toappoint experts
in tikanga Māori and whakapapa as additional members of the Court, and they can hold
judicial settlement conferences to assist parties to a dispute to settle a claim or issue.
Fifth The project has also highlighted the need for the Māori Land Court tobe more proactive in its identification and review of defunct trusts and incorporations due to circumstances such as the death of key trustee or management committee members.
