The local authority for your area may have rules about the size of the lot that you will need to check out. Sometimes people think that if they own a lot of shares in a block that means they are entitled to an occupation order over a large area.
The exception, of course, is the election of their representative on the ahuwhenuatrust before its inaugural AGM. Accordingly, whilst all the beneficiaries of the respective whānau trusts are also beneficiaries of the ahuwhenuatrust, there is no election of trustees at an ahuwhenuatrust AGM.
An obvious corollary to that proposition is, subject to the available resources and infrastructure of the trust to cater for such procedures. For example, one ahuwhenuatrust has over 8,000 beneficial owners for an area of land less than 200 hectares with income of less than $10,000.00 per annum.
