The challenge now is to develop a robust and consistent framework, so that those owners of Māori Land who seek genuine resolution can use this service and avoid determinations that result in a winner and loser.
Work is now underway to create a more advanced system to provide a better service to landowners. This is in a more foetal stage of planning so I do not have much information but I am told it will improve access, accuracy and security of information contained in the Māori Land Court, which is very positive.

Landowners can choose to resolve their dispute through a
free tikanga-based mediation service provided by the Māori
Land Court.
Benefits Unnecessary litigation can be avoided, more sustainable
solutions found that are agreeable to all involved, and
relationships between the parties can be preserved.
