Section 4 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 lists the preferred classes of alienees in relation to any alienation. In considering applications relating to alienations, the Māori Land Court must be satisfied that the preferred classes of alienee have been granted an opportunity to exercise the first right of refusal.
