Once satisfied, the Māori Land Court may make a recommendation to the Minister of Transport for the roadway to be declared a public road and handed over to the local authority for ongoing maintenance.

I know that presently there are difficulties for members of whānau trusts in relation to grants for education or to kaumatua, and in voting at meetings.

As I said earlier, one of the major difficulties for Māori owners setting up governance structures and improving the utilisation of land in multiple ownership is the inability to contact or give notice to other owners of proposals for development.
