Pūtea trusts allow the Court on application by an interested party, to vest the uneconomic
interests of one or more owners of Māori land into a single entity.
Additional interests

7.3 If, after the constitution of this Trust, any additional Māori land interests are vested in the
name of any person who has vested Māori land interests into this Trust, those additional
interests shall be included as Trust Property of this Trust by application to the Court by
the Registrar without notice to the Beneficiaries.
A change of ownership of land gives the recipient of that interest the ownership
and its associated rights (land may be vested in a trustee, or shares may be vested
in another person).

At that time the Judges hearing those applications were not aware that there had been the previous applications in 1967 and that it had been intended to vest all interests into one person.
