Occupation orders An occupation order allows people to build houses on Māori freehold and general land owned by Māori.
GENERAL LAND Land that is not Māori land (either Māori Freehold Land or Māori Customary Land) and which is not Crown Land.

I commented on the obvious importance of good governance to our Māori and New Zealand futures. While my comments were focussed on Māori land, they are equally applicable to other Māori assets.
