In addition to his Māori Land Court role, in 2018, Judge Armstrong was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Niue. In 2021, Judge Armstrong was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of the Cook Islands.
And although the records on the earliest Judges of the Court are often incomplete, it appears that Judge Hugh Fraser Ayson was the first VUW graduate to be appointed as a Judge of this Court. He was appointed as a Native Land Court Judge on 3 February 1919.
Of the appointment, the Chief Justice said:
“The role that Judge Fox now assumes as Chief Judge of the Māori Land Court is
a role of great responsibility.
