The mediator will guide the parties in the dispute through mediation based on the tikanga agreed by the parties. If an agreement is reached through mediation, the mediator will record the terms of the agreement and provide this to the Māori Land Court.

New legislation allows Māori landowners to take action on water service issues that affect Māori land.

Use this form to file an appeal against a final decision or determination of the Māori Land Court. An appeal under Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 may only be lodged within 2 months from the date of the decision or determination, unless accompanied by an application seeking leave to appeal out of time on Form 1.
In some cases, the Māori Trustee can also be appointed as an agent to work on specific matters with, or on behalf of, trusts and trustees.
Why make this change? Succession to Māori land interests can be complex for whānau and for whāngai, and Māori land is often owned by members of different whānau (with different views on whāngai succession).
