Appeals to Māori Appellate Court - in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court
Under section 171 of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025, parties may appeal to the Māori Appellate Court on a question of law only in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court around access to Māori land for water infrastructure.
This act confirms the purpose of the visit. At this stage in te pā whenua, the decision or outcome of the application will be actioned by carrying out a change in the land and/or landownership.
The period covered has been one ofchange for the Court, with the introduction of the new Pātaka Whenua system to support Court kaimahi, judges and landowners.
To date, the programme delivered business transformation for the Māori Land Court, including legislative changes, a new operating model, and streamlined business processes.
These were the years of the revolution, of the nation of contention, the people of protest, the crowd of combat who fought tirelessly for the survival of te iwi Māori.
