The former Chief Judge, Judge Isaac, retired from his role on 30 April, and accordingly Deputy Chief Judge Fox and Deputy Chairperson Judge Reeves have taken up the roles of Acting Chief Judge and Acting Chairperson respectively.

She was also appointed as an Alternate Environment Court Judge in 2009. Chief Judge Fox was appointed as the Deputy Chief Judge of the Māori Land Court in 2010, and as the Chief Judge of the Court in 2023.
While the Māori Land Court provides an essential service, the majority of its proceedings were not priority proceedings during Alert Level 4.
