Justice Joe Williams himself was the ChiefJudge of the Maori Land Court before his appointment to the higher courts, and indeed the ChiefJudge before him, the Honourable Sir Edward Taihakurei Durie, is also an alumnus.
Applications for injunctive relief process over the holiday
period 2023/24

Only urgent applications for injunctive relief will be considered over the holiday period,
only between 27 – 29 December, and only from 9am-5pm.

The occasion brought together Māori Land Court staff and members of the judiciary, including Chief Māori Land Court Judge Dr Caren Fox, Deputy ChiefJudge Craig Coxhead, Justice Layne Harvey, and other Māori Land Court judges.
A large hui was held in December 2023 in Motueka and in May 2024, Judge Reeves
conducted a site visit followed by a judicial conference at the Collingwood Area School.
