Procedure for the Court hearing
As the applicant, you need to report to a
Court officer at the hearing so that the Court
is aware that the applicant is present.
Once again, given my role as a Judge of the Court I am not at liberty to comment on
how well the Court performs its function in dealing with successions.

Succession applications are decided by Māori Land Court judges.
From
6 February 2021
Simple and uncontested succession applications can be decided
by a registrar of the Māori Land Court without a court hearing.

If you want to make an application to the Māori Land Court
or you have an application already in the Māori Land Court
that is being delayed by a dispute, you can apply to use the
dispute resolution service to attempt to settle the dispute
outside of a court sitting.
