3.21 The trustees must advise the Māori Land Court of the names of the trustees elected at any general meeting.

Māori judges were definitely a scarce commodity, however I spent a couple of years practising in Henderson when Judge Mick Brown was still sitting as a judge. Mick was a pioneer for many of the initiatives we now see in the Youth Justice area – restorative justice, and courtsittings on marae – and a real character in the courtroom.

Well then, there seems to be just one more thing left for me to say at this time, one more acknowledgement, a tribute perhaps that has been sitting with me for a while, and it is only right that I express that today while I sit in the heart of my ancestral house, of Te Rangatiratanga.
