Rule 5.11(2)(b) of the Māori Land Court Rules 2011 states that a report must be produced and made available to the public of all applications filed in the Māori Land Court that are six months or older and where a final decision has not yet been made on that application.
Applying for a mortgage or loan for Māori land
The Māori Land Court cannot influence a bank or lending institution when a decision is being made about granting a mortgage or loan to landowners.
This new report is intended to reflect on the previous year and look forward to the next, providing detailed and transparent information on our work and judicial decision-making.
The period covered has been one of change for the Court, with the introduction of the new Pātaka Whenua system to support Court kaimahi, judges and landowners.
