These duties are set out in Schedule 1. These duties may be amended or excluded at the discretion of the Beneficiaries. 3.
The Act imposes trustee duties on those in governance, yet it is not clear whether similar duties will apply to engaged owners.

Reasons to remove a member could be that: • the member has failed to carry out his or her duties satisfactorily • the member has contravened any part of the Māori incorporation’s constitution or has acted in a manner that is not compatible with membership of the committee • it is in the best interests of the Māori incorporation that the member be removed from office.
