notified, pursuant to rules 3.18, 5.3 and 8.2(3) of the Māori Land Court Rules 2011, as being
outstanding and have yet to be determined or set down for inquiry or report...
The changes in the Act respond to demand to build
papakāinga housing on Māori land for the purposes of
supporting Māori into housing and whānau to return to
their whenua. Papakāinga is traditionally referred to as the
ancestral home and the nurturing place to return to.
Grounds for application:
I am a party to a contract or arrangement relating to the proposed transfer; or
I am the transferor/donor of the land or interest; or
I am a trustee for a person entitled to the land or interest
3. Consultation with whānau
I have consulted with my immediate whānau about this application; and
There are no objections from my whānau

Examples of what could be considered ‘simple’ trust matters
include:
• forming a whānau trust for a single owner’s interests or
shares; or
• terminating a kaitiaki trust for a minor when the person
reaches 20 years of age; or
• appointing a trustee to a whānau trust.
