The rapid pace of Treaty settlements has created challenges for the Tribunal, and the number of the applications in the Māori Land Court continues to rise as well.
While the project also threw up issues for improvement, generally I think we can be satisfied that the Māori Land Court is the most appropriate mechanism for administering Maori Land titles, so long as every order is reflected in the LINZ system.
The Māori Land Court receives on average 1,600 applications per year in relation to the establishment and management of trusts and incorporations.
