Chief Judge Caren Fox and Pae Matua Steve Gunson are very happy to release the first MāoriLandCourt and Māori Appellate Court Annual Report, covering the period from Matariki 2022 – Matariki 2023.
The Minister of Māori Development has sought expressions of interest for the next Chief Judge of the MāoriLandCourt, and will in due course announce the appointment of the next Chief Judge and Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal.

WORKING LIST OF POTENTIAL OWNERS’ AS AT 31 JULY 2026
The MāoriLandCourt has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to the
Hāwea/Wānaka Substitute Land (Section 2 of 5 Block XIV Lower Wānaka Survey District) under
Section 15 of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.
Information about whenua is generally held by the district office that is located closest to that land block. You can visit one of our offices to view:
current and historic ownership lists for whenua Māori
minutes of hearings of Court and Registrar decisions
current and historic memorial schedule information recording leases, occupations and other land uses
