Prior to its integration into the Department for Courts
and Ministry of Justice, the MāoriLand Court was
part of a section within the Department ofMāori
Affairs (often referred to as the court section).
Who mediates?
Initially MāoriLand Court judges will act as mediators. In
the future, the service will be supported by a pool of non-
judicial mediators identified to have the right skills to support
disputes over Māoriland.
