The MāoriLand Court has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to
the Toitoi Land (Crown Land Block VIII Lords River Survey District) under Section 15 of
Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.
HĀWEA/WĀNAKA SILNA WORKING LIST OF POTENTIAL OWNERS AS AT 9 SEPTEMBER 2021
The MāoriLand Court has released an updated working list of potential owners entitled to the
Hāwea/Wānaka Substitute Land (Section 2 of 5 Block XIV Lower Wanaka Survey District)
under Section 15 of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement 1997.
These matters could be resolved relatively simply by legislation. To sum up then, we have reached a position where Māoriland is no longer being lost into the general land system, or fragmented by partition.
The MāoriLand Court In 2003, the Minister of Māori Affairs applied to the MāoriLand Court for an inquiry pursuant to s 29 TTWMA as to successors to the four remaining SILNA blocks.
Historically, trust applications were heard by a MāoriLand
Court judge.
Now, if your application is assessed to be ‘simple and
uncontested’, then it can be decided by a MāoriLand Court
registrar without a court sitting (unless you request to be
heard by a judge in a court sitting).
