The order will then be written up in the
Court title records if it affects land, and
will be sent to any party who has to act
on it, for example the Māori trustee if
the Māori trustee has been ordered to
pay money he/she is holding, or a Māori
incorporation if the order affects shares in
that incorporation.
TRANSFERRING SHARES TO TRUSTEES
Māori land shares can be transferred, by a vesting order, to a
trustee from a person who owns, or is entitled to own, Māori
land shares.
Hold a whānau hui
Meet with your whānau (in person or online) to discuss:
• why you want to form the trust
• who the trustees will be
• what land interests will be vested

A whānau trust was formed at that stage with myself and two cousins being appointed as trustees. Initial lands vested into the whānau trust came from the uncle who had been appointed as the whānau administrator in 1967.
(b) This means that any minority trusteeswho voted against the mortgage must
still sign the mortgage documents to implement the decision of the majority
trustees.
