For example, one ahu whenua trust has over 8,000 beneficial owners for an area of land less than 200 hectares with income of less than $10,000.00 per annum. For that trust a postal ballot, let alone online voting, would be quite impractical.

Once all, or most, owners have been identified, the Trustees will consider opportunities for the whenua to be utilised productively, in a manner that may generate income and benefits for the whānau, as was originally intended.
