Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand Toitū te Whenua hold information about historical transfers, surveying titles, or land that has been converted to general land.
I am very pleased to announce the Minister for Māori development has confirmed the appointment of Alana Miriana Thomas as a permanent judge of the Māori Land Court. Judge Thomas is currently the Director at Kaupare Law and Consultancy and holds an LLB, BA from the University of Auckland.
She also acted as legal counsel for Treaty claimants and Māori land clients. She holds a LLM from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, and in 2023 received her PhD at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi for her thesis "Ko te mana te utu: Narratives of sovereignty, law, and tribal citizenship in the Pōtikirua ki te Toka-a-Taiau District".
