The first step in filing a succession application is to gather the whakapapa information of the whānau member who passed away, including the names and contact information of their parents, brothers and sisters, children, and partner(s).

minutes of hearings of Court and Registrar decisions
current and historic memorial schedule information recording leases, occupations and other land uses
orders made by the court or a Registrar – including:
title orders (creating Māori land)
trust orders (names of trustees and terms of trust)
succession orders (names of successors to an estate)
vesting orders (transfers of...
If the trustees acquire further land or other assets for the purposes of the trust, that land
becomes trust land, and the other assets become trust property.
