• Ahu whenua trust This is the most common Māori land trust. It’s designed to promote the use and administration of the land in the interest of the owners.

The major ownership of the land (which has an area of 1.4011 ha situated in Whittaker Road, Rotorua) has been held since 1968 in a long-term testamentary trust for eight of the testator’s children and their descendants.
It is rarely the case that the Māori Land Court judges do not appoint people into these positions where selected by owners.
Their dedication to making the Māori Land Court a truly Māori space – where people are engaged respectfully and in culturally appropriate ways – is truly inspiring.
