As to the staffing of the Māori Land Court registries, depending on the size of the registry some staff will continue to work from home, whereas others should be at full capacity.
The average size of a Māori land block is 52.5 hectares, with the smallest 10% of blocks averaging 80m2 and the largest 10% 468 hectares.
The block itself is only about 5 hectares in size. Very few Māori now live on Māori freehold land.
Conclusion Setting aside land for a new urupā is a significant undertaking for the beneficial owners of the land.
You can combine Māori land, general land, or both, regardless of size, shape, location, or status.
