Appeals to Māori Appellate Court - in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court
Under section 171 of the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025, parties may appeal to the Māori Appellate Court on a question of law only in relation to a decision of the Māori Land Court around access to Māori land for water infrastructure.
That invitation is not made by an order of the Court but by the hope for parties to move forward and strengthen the relationships and kinship ties of the whānau involved.

Description of reasons for outstanding
applications
The reasons listed below show the current stage of processing of the application through the court.
Te tono mō tētahi whakatau whakawhiti (utu tāpae $68)
Apply for a vesting order (filing fee $68)
To apply for a vesting order to transfer your Māori land interests or shares by gift, you’ll need to provide:
evidence of the relationship between the parties to establish that they are members of the preferred class of alienee (PCA)
evidence that you have discussed the transfer with your children or descendants (if you have any).
My final comments, my assurance to my people, the true expression of my gratitude and affection for te reo Māori, for te iwi Māori will be shown in my efforts to implement the challenges heard today.
Advertising in local media local to the whenua is a good idea and if this fails, make sure you let the other owners know that you have been unable to contact everyone, as this may affect the application in court. Step 2: Organise a hui
To establish a land based trust or incorporation, you’ll need to hold a hui with the landowners and potential beneficiaries.
If you are recorded on this list, please update your contact details.
If your whanaunga are on the list, and have passed away, you can make an application for succession.
(ii) That persons entitled to succeed are correctly listed in this application.
(iii) That there are no disputes as to succession or issues to be settled before an order can be made.
