Succession with a living husband, wife, or partner Māori freehold land can be owned by one owner or several owners and in some cases, there might be hundreds of owners in one block or title of land.
Under the Settlement, successors are to be identified as though the land was Māori freehold land and as though the deceased person died intestate (as if they had no will).

The register can be in either physical form or electronic, kept at the registered office or principal place of business, and must be made available for inspection by shareholders or any person authorised in writing by a shareholder.
