Te Kooti Whenua Māori – Māori Land Court (MLC) is the
New Zealand Court that hears matters relating to Māori
land.
Māori incorporations are governed by the Māori Incorporations Constitution Regulations 1994 and run independently of the normal court processes that apply to trusts, but do provide annual reports to the Court.
We were established to convert customary Māori land into titles which could be acquired, initially by the colonial government and later by individual settlers.
