Any requests to appoint a mediator from beyond the list must be approved by the Director of the Māori Land Court before they can proceed. Contact your local district office for further information here.

This trust order is drafted to allow the trustees to purchase land, but not to sell it. That is because most Māori trusts focus on retaining land.

No record of these conversations will be publicly available on the Māori Land Court record. If an agreement is reached through mediation, the mediator will record the terms of the agreement and provide this to the Māori Land Court.

If the will includes provisions for Māori land interests and who they should be left to, the administrators of the estate can complete a certificate by administrator.
